Create A Website Widget
Create a Website Widget with the five-step New Website Widget flow, publish its first channel in the Channel Builder, then copy the install snippet.
A Website Widget is the Contact side of Flidu: a launcher on your site that opens a list of channels such as WhatsApp, a Contact Form or Business Hours. A website and its first widget are created together. This guide covers that flow, then publishing a channel and finding the install snippet.
Where To Start
Open Website Widgets in the sidebar. Creating a widget needs the Owner or Admin role.
- With no website yet, select Create Your First Site.
- To add another website with its own widget, select New Website Widget.
- To add a widget to a website you already have, open that website and use Add Widget, described further down.
The Five Steps Of The New Website Widget Flow
The flow is a full-screen page titled New Website Widget. Move with Continue and Back. Nothing is saved until the last step, so closing the flow asks Discard This Widget? first.
- Website Details. Enter Website / Widget Name, Website Domain (bare, such as
example.com, withouthttps://) and Notification email, which receives contact, feedback and guided form messages by default. Internal Widget Name is optional and only shown in your dashboard. Public Widget Title starts as Contact Us and is what visitors see at the top of the widget. - Starting Setup. Choose Start with the essentials, which pre-selects a Contact Form, or Start from scratch, which selects nothing. Publishing a Contact Form needs Website Widgets Starter or higher, so on Free choose Start from scratch.
- Channels. Tick the channels you want to begin with. Nothing is configured here: each ticked channel arrives as an unpublished draft that you complete afterwards. Custom Link is not in this list; add it later from Add Channel.
- Appearance. Pick an Accent colour, a Position (Bottom right or Bottom left) and whether to Use brand colours for channel icons.
- Preview & Create. Read the summary of your choices, then select Create Website Widget.
The widget’s page opens on its Overview tab. The widget itself is published straight away when your plan has a free published-widget slot; otherwise it is created as a draft. Its channels are still drafts, so visitors see none of them yet.
Add And Publish A Channel
- Open the Channels tab. In the Channel Builder, select Add Channel.
- In the Add a Channel drawer, pick a channel and select Add. A channel you ticked in the flow opens in its editor instead.
- Fill in the editor. WhatsApp, for example, needs a Phone number in full international format and an Agent name.
- Select Save as Draft. Saving a draft never changes what your site shows.
- Select Publish changes. The row now reads Published on your widget, and the channel appears the next time a page loads.
Until you publish, the row reads Draft · not on your widget yet. A channel your plan does not include is marked Preview only: you can build it, but publishing needs the plan that includes it. See A Channel Is Locked Or Marked Premium.
Appearance works differently. Brand Color, Widget Theme, Widget Title and Position on the Appearance tab apply to the live widget as soon as you change them, with no publish step.
Copy The Install Snippet
Open the Install tab and select Copy. The snippet is a single script tag that carries this widget’s own key, so copy it instead of retyping it. Paste it once, before the closing </body> tag of your site, open a page of your site, then select Verify Installation. The status reads Not detected yet until your site has loaded the script, then confirms the installation and shows when the widget was last detected.
Add Another Widget To The Same Website
A website can hold several widgets, each with its own appearance, channels and snippet. On the website’s Overview tab, find the Website Widgets card, open the widget selector and choose Add Widget. Enter an Internal Name, optionally a Public Title, then select Create and Publish or Create as Draft. A new widget starts empty; nothing is copied from the first one. To copy an existing widget, use Duplicate in the page header. More in Create And Manage Multiple Widgets.
Website And Widget Limits By Plan
| Website Widgets Plan | Websites | Published Widgets | Draft Widgets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| Starter | 1 | 10 | 5 |
| Pro | 10 | 50 | 25 |
| Business | 25 | 100 | 50 |
Widget slots are counted across the whole workspace, not per website. Agency limits follow the preset you choose and Enterprise limits are agreed individually. See Pricing and Widget Limits And Visitor Counting.
If It Does Not Behave As Expected
- The flow shows a notice and Create Website Widget stays unavailable. Most often the workspace has reached its website limit: add a widget to an existing website instead, or move to a plan with more websites. The button is also unavailable when your role in the workspace is Viewer.
- Widget limit reached appears when you add a widget. Every slot of the kind you asked for, published or draft, is in use.
- A channel is on the Channels tab but not on your site. It is still a draft. Open it and select Publish changes. See My Dashboard Changes Are Not Showing On My Website.
- Nothing appears on your site at all. Work through the widget not showing checks.
