Choose Contact, Ask AI, Or Both
One Flidu widget can show Contact channels, Ask AI, or both as two tabs. Compare what visitors see, which plan applies to each, and how to switch later.
A Flidu widget can be set up three ways: Contact only, Ask AI only, or Contact and Ask AI together. There is no mode setting to switch. What visitors see follows from what you have published: live channels give the widget a Contact side, and a published AI Chatbot gives it an Ask AI side.
What Visitors See In Each Setup
| Setup | What The Widget Shows |
|---|---|
| Contact only | The launcher opens a list of your published channels. |
| Ask AI only | The launcher opens straight into Ask AI: your greeting, your suggested questions and a box for typing a question. |
| Contact and Ask AI | One panel with two tabs, Contact and Ask AI. It opens on Contact, and the visitor can switch at any time. |
Flidu does not offer live chat in any of the three. Switching from Ask AI to Contact changes the tab; it does not pass what the visitor typed to WhatsApp, a form or a person.
Which Plan And Limits Apply
| What Differs | Contact Only | Ask AI Only | Contact And Ask AI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan that applies | Website Widgets | AI Chatbot | Website Widgets for Contact, AI Chatbot for Ask AI |
| Website Widget published slot | Uses 1 | Uses none | Uses 1 |
| Where you manage it | Website Widgets | AI Chatbots | Channels in Website Widgets, the assistant in AI Chatbots |
The two product lines never share limits. A larger AI Chatbot plan does not add widget slots or unlock channels, and a larger Website Widgets plan does not add AI messages. With paid plans on both lines you qualify for Bundle & Save, which changes the price only. See Plans Per Product Line and Pricing.
Both lines have a Free plan, so you can try all three setups first. Website Widgets Free includes 1 website and 1 published widget. AI Chatbot Free includes 1 assistant, 100 AI messages a month and 50 indexed pages per assistant.
When To Choose Each
- Contact only suits a site where visitors mainly need to reach you or find a page: WhatsApp, a form, your hours, a booking link. Nothing needs indexing, and it works as soon as one channel is published.
- Ask AI only suits a site whose pages already hold the answers. Bear in mind that there is no Contact tab: a visitor whose question is not covered has no route to you inside the widget.
- Contact and Ask AI gives visitors answers first with a way to reach you one tap away. Contact keeps working when Ask AI is paused or the month’s AI messages have run out.
How To Set Up Each One
Contact Only
Create a Website Widget, publish at least one channel and install its snippet. Do not connect an AI Chatbot. See Create A Website Widget.
Ask AI Only
Create an AI Chatbot, index a source, and at the last step choose Install as Ask AI-only. Your website must already be added under Website Widgets; adding a website also creates a Website Widget for it, which you do not have to install. That widget counts toward your Website Widgets limits as usual; the Ask AI-only install does not. The install gets its own snippet, opened with Get install code. See Create Your AI Assistant.
Contact And Ask AI Together
Create both. At the last step of the Create AI Chatbot flow, choose Add to an existing Website Widget and pick a published widget; on an assistant that already exists, use Connect to Widget in the Connection section of its Preview tab. Ask AI joins the widget as a draft; select Publish Ask AI on the assistant’s Preview tab to make the Ask AI tab live. The widget keeps its existing snippet, and one widget holds one AI Chatbot. How The Shared Widget Shell Works describes the two-tab panel in detail.
Switching Later
- Ask AI only to both. On the assistant’s Preview tab, the Connection section links to the install with Add Contact (uses a Website Widget slot). That opens the install’s Channels tab, where you select Add Contact and confirm. The install becomes a Website Widget and uses one Website Widget slot; its install code, Ask AI and settings stay the same. Then add and publish channels.
- Contact only to both. Connect an AI Chatbot to the widget and publish Ask AI. No new snippet is needed.
- Both to Contact only. On the assistant’s Preview tab, select Pause Ask AI to stop it for now, or Disconnect to take it off the widget. The AI Chatbot, its data sources and its indexed content stay saved.
If The Result Is Not What You Chose
- Only Contact shows. Ask AI is connected but not published, is paused, or has no indexed content yet. See The Ask AI Tab Is Missing From My Widget.
- Only Ask AI shows. No channel on the widget is published yet, or a visibility rule is hiding Contact on this page or device. See The Widget Shows But A Channel Is Missing.
- Nothing shows. Work through the widget not showing checks.
