Getting Started

Create Your AI Assistant

Create an AI Chatbot, add the sources it should answer from, start indexing, test it in Preview, then choose where it appears on your website.

Ask AI is the assistant side of Flidu. You create an AI Chatbot, tell it which content to learn from, and place it on your website, on its own or beside your contact channels. Every AI Chatbot plan includes it, Free included.

Before You Start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role in the workspace.
  • Add your website under Website Widgets first. Both install options at the end of the flow need a website in the dashboard.
  • Have the address of the page, sitemap or list of pages you want the assistant to read.

Step 1: Basics

Open AI Chatbots in the sidebar and select Create AI Chatbot. A full-screen flow titled Create Your AI Chatbot opens with five steps: Basics, Data Sources, Behavior, Fallback, and Preview & Connect.

On Basics, enter a Chatbot Name, which is required, a Tagline and a Greeting Message. The greeting and tagline are what a visitor reads first when Ask AI opens. Select Continue: this saves the assistant as a draft and moves to step 2. You can close the flow at any point afterwards; the draft is kept.

Step 2: Add Sources And Start Indexing

Select Add Source. The Add a Source drawer offers these source types:

SourceWhat It Takes
Website URLOne public page. With Follow links on this site on, pages it links to on the same site are indexed too, one level deep.
SitemapThe public address of an XML sitemap.
Manual URL ListOne page per line, up to 25 pages on the same website.
File UploadFiles of type .txt, .md, .csv or .html, up to 2 MB each.
Manual TextText you paste in.
Manual Q&AYour own question-and-answer pairs. AI Chatbot Starter and above.

A saved source is a draft. Press Start indexing on its card to have it read; nothing is indexed until you do. Website URL and Sitemap sources index a limited batch of pages per crawl, while a Manual URL List indexes exactly the pages you list, so use a list when specific pages must be covered. When indexing finishes, the Indexed Content list on the assistant’s Data Sources tab shows each page, file and entry the assistant can use.

Finish Steps 3 And 4 Before You Start IndexingOnce indexing begins, Add Source and the Basics, Behavior and Fallback screens are read-only inside this flow. Add every source you want and fill in steps 3 and 4 first; the step names at the top of the flow are links, so you can go ahead and come back. Anything you leave out stays editable afterwards on the assistant’s Data Sources, Settings and Suggested Questions tabs.

AI Chatbot Free allows one website, sitemap, URL list or text source and one uploaded file per assistant; paid plans allow more. Add Website Data Sources goes through each source type.

Steps 3 And 4: Behavior And Fallback

Behavior holds Suggested questions, the prompts a visitor can tap when Ask AI opens (up to 3 live at once on AI Chatbot Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Pro and 30 on Business). It also holds Custom instructions, extra guidance on tone, priorities and what to avoid; these can be saved on AI Chatbot Starter and above.

Fallback carries one switch, Visual Source Cards, which controls whether an answer can list its sources. There is no fallback message to write. When your sources do not cover a question, Ask AI is built to say so, and in a widget that also has a Contact tab the visitor can switch to it.

Save Each Card Before You ContinueOn these two steps, Continue moves on without saving what you typed. Press Save changes on a card first. Suggested questions are the exception: they save as you add them.

Step 5: Preview And Choose Where To Install

The last step puts a test chat beside the install options. Ask the questions your visitors would ask and read the replies; a Sources list shows the pages the assistant looked at. Preview works once the assistant has indexed content, only you can see it, and the questions you ask there count toward your plan’s monthly AI messages.

Under Choose Where to Install, pick one of two options:

  • Install as Ask AI-only. The assistant appears on your website without Contact features and does not use a Website Widget published-widget slot. With more than one website, choose one in the Website selector.
  • Add to an existing Website Widget. Contact and Ask AI appear together in one widget. Choose a published Website Widget in the Connect to Website Widget dialog and select Connect Now.

Then select Create AI Chatbot. With Ask AI-only chosen, this installs the assistant and publishes it when it is ready. With an existing widget, connecting adds Ask AI as a draft that stays private: open the assistant’s Preview tab and select Publish Ask AI in the Connection section to make it live.

The AI Chatbot created dialog offers Open AI Chatbot and, for an Ask AI-only install, Get Install Code, which opens the Install tab that holds the snippet to paste into your site. An assistant added to a widget that is already installed needs no new snippet. Choose Contact, Ask AI, Or Both compares the two placements.

What Each AI Chatbot Plan Allows

AI Chatbot PlanAssistantsAI Messages Per MonthIndexed Pages Per Assistant
Free110050
Starter33,000250
Pro510,000500
Business1020,0001,000

Agency allowances follow the preset you choose and Enterprise is agreed individually. These limits belong to the AI Chatbot plan only; your Website Widgets plan does not change them. See AI Chatbot Allowances and Pricing.

If It Does Not Behave As Expected

  • Preview says the assistant is still getting ready, or has no content. Indexing has not finished, or no source has been indexed yet. Check the source card on the Data Sources tab, and see My Pages Are Not Being Indexed.
  • Add to an existing Website Widget is not offered. It needs an assistant that has finished indexing and a published Website Widget that has no other AI Chatbot connected. One widget holds one AI Chatbot.
  • Install as Ask AI-only asks you to add a website. Add your website under Website Widgets first, then return to the assistant.
  • The Ask AI tab does not appear on your site. Ask AI may be connected but not yet published. See The Ask AI Tab Is Missing From My Widget.
