Visitor-Facing Labels
Where to edit every piece of text a visitor reads in your widget: the widget title, channel titles and descriptions, button labels, and the Ask AI greeting.
A visitor reads several pieces of text in your widget, and they are edited in different places. This guide lists each one, where to change it, the limits that apply, and whether the change needs publishing.
Where Each Label Is Edited
| What Visitors Read | Where You Edit It | How It Goes Live |
|---|---|---|
| Widget Title | Website Widgets, your widget, Appearance tab | Saves automatically |
| Channel Title and Description | Channels tab, the channel’s editor, Presentation | Save as Draft, then Publish changes |
| Button labels and success messages | Channels tab, the channel’s own settings | Save as Draft, then Publish changes |
| Greeting message and Tagline | AI Chatbots, your assistant, Settings tab | Save changes |
| Suggested Questions | Your assistant, Suggested Questions tab | Each change saves immediately |
The Widget Title
The Widget Title is the heading visitors see when the widget opens. It sits above the channel list and above Ask AI, including on an Ask AI-only widget. When a visitor opens a channel such as a form, the heading changes to a name for that channel until they go back.
Edit it on the widget’s Appearance tab. It can be up to 60 characters, and if you clear the field the widget uses “Contact Us”. The flow for creating a widget asks for the same text as Public Widget Title. Like the other appearance settings, it saves by itself and needs no publishing.
Channel Titles And Descriptions
Each channel appears in the widget as a row with a title and a smaller line under it. Both come from the Presentation section of the channel’s editor.
- Open the widget’s Channels tab and click Edit on the channel.
- Under Presentation, type a Channel Title of up to 80 characters. Leave it empty to keep the channel’s default name, which the field marks with a Default tag.
- Optionally add a Description of up to 240 characters. When it is empty, the widget shows a default line instead, such as the availability text on a WhatsApp channel.
- Click Save as Draft, then Publish changes.
Renaming a channel title is included from Website Widgets Starter. On Free the field is locked with a Starter + badge and the channel keeps its default name; the Description can still be edited.
- Custom Links have no default name, so their editor asks for a Display label instead. It is required, takes up to 80 characters, and can be set on every plan.
- WhatsApp and Telegram channels with several published agents show an agent list. Each agent is listed by their Display Label, or by their Agent name when no label is set. With a single agent, visitors see only the Channel Title and the line under it. See WhatsApp: Single And Multiple Agents.
- Sections. If you arrange channels into sections, each section’s title is shown above its channels. Sections are included from Website Widgets Business. See Channel Order And Grouping.
Labels Inside A Channel
Some channels open a view of their own, and the text in that view is set in the same editor, below Presentation. For example:
- Contact Form: the Success Message shown after a visitor sends the form.
- Guided Form: the Form Title and the Success Message.
- Book Appointment: the Button Label, and above it the Intro note, or the Intro heading when no note is set.
- Offers: the Button Label on an offer that opens a link.
These follow the channel’s draft, so save the channel and publish it before you look for the new text on your site.
Ask AI Text Visitors See
When a widget carries Ask AI, three pieces of text come from the assistant instead of the widget. Open AI Chatbots in the sidebar and select the assistant.
- Greeting message, up to 280 characters, is the first line a visitor reads in Ask AI. Set it on the Settings tab.
- Tagline, up to 160 characters, sits under the greeting in smaller text. It is on the same tab.
- Suggested Questions are prompts a visitor can tap, shown under the greeting until they send a first message. Manage them on the Suggested Questions tab. AI Chatbot Free shows up to 3 live at once, Starter 10, Pro 20 and Business 30.
Click Save changes on the Settings tab to apply the greeting and tagline. The heading above them is still the Widget Title. More detail is in Suggested Questions And Source Cards.
Wording That Is Built In
Some wording belongs to the widget itself and has no field in the dashboard:
- The tab names Contact and Ask AI.
- The heading shown while a visitor is inside the Contact Form, FAQ, Business Hours, Book Appointment, Services & Pricing or Offers. It is the channel’s standard name; a Channel Title you set appears on the channel’s row in the list.
- The field labels and send buttons inside the Contact Form and Feedback Form, and the prompt in the Ask AI message box.
- The message “This feature is temporarily unavailable.”, shown when Ask AI cannot respond.
- The Powered by Flidu link in the footer, which can be hidden but not reworded. See Powered By Flidu Control.
This wording is in English. Language In The Widget And Ask AI explains what that means for a website in another language.
Names Visitors Never See
Three names exist only to help you find things in the dashboard: the website name, a widget’s Internal Name and an assistant’s Assistant name. Choose them for your own convenience, for example after a campaign or a client.
If A Label Does Not Change On Your Site
- A channel title or description did not update. Saving a channel keeps it as a draft. Open the channel again and click Publish changes.
- The page still shows the old text. Reload it. A page that is already open does not update itself.
- The Channel Title field is locked. On Website Widgets Free, channels keep their default names. Renaming starts on Starter.
- Your changes do not save. Viewers have read-only access. Ask an Owner or Admin of the workspace.
