Language In The Widget And Ask AI
Which widget text you write in your own language, which built-in wording stays in English, and how to guide and check the language of Ask AI replies.
A Flidu widget shows three kinds of text: wording you write, wording built into the widget, and replies written by Ask AI. Each behaves differently when your website is not in English. This guide covers all three, so you know what you can write in your own language and what to test before you go live.
Text You Write Yourself
Flidu shows your own text the way you write it. Nothing is translated, and nothing changes with the visitor’s browser language. You write:
- The Widget Title at the top of the widget.
- Channel descriptions and Custom Link labels on every plan, and channel titles from Website Widgets Starter.
- The content inside channels, such as FAQ questions and answers, form success messages and button labels.
- The Ask AI Greeting message, Tagline and Suggested Questions.
Visitor-Facing Labels shows where each of these is edited. After you save, open your website and read the widget once, to confirm every label appears as you intended.
One widget holds one set of text, and every visitor sees the same set. There are no per-language versions inside a widget. If your site has separate language sections, you can build one widget for each section, each with its own title, channels and labels, and place each widget’s snippet on its own pages. A second published widget needs Website Widgets Starter or higher. See Page-Specific Widgets For Campaigns.
Wording Built Into The Widget
Some wording belongs to the widget itself. It is in English, and there is no dashboard field to edit or translate it:
- The tab names Contact and Ask AI.
- The field labels and send buttons in the Contact Form and Feedback Form, and the short line shown under your Success Message after a Contact Form is sent.
- The step counter and the buttons in a Guided Form.
- In Ask AI: the prompt in the message box, the Helpful and Not helpful buttons under a reply, and the Sources heading.
- The message “This feature is temporarily unavailable.”, shown when Ask AI cannot respond.
- The follow-up form that Visitor Capture can show inside Ask AI.
- The Powered by Flidu link in the footer.
The Language Of Ask AI Replies
Ask AI does not choose replies from a prepared list. Each reply is written by the AI for that question, using the content you have indexed. Flidu does not translate replies, and the language a reply comes back in is decided by the AI as it writes, so it cannot be guaranteed. Three things help you steer it:
- Your sources. Ask AI answers from the sources you add. Index content written in the language your visitors read.
- Custom Instructions. From AI Chatbot Starter, open the assistant’s Settings tab, find Custom Instructions, click Add Instruction and state the language you want, for example “Reply in Spanish.” Each instruction can be up to 300 characters. Click Save changes. Instructions are passed to the AI as guidance on tone, focus and wording; they are not a strict rule.
- The text around the reply. Write the Greeting message, Tagline and Suggested Questions in the same language, so everything a visitor reads before the first reply matches.
AI Chatbot Free does not include Custom Instructions, so on Free the reply language is left to the AI. The plan comparison is on Pricing.
Check The Result In Preview
- Open AI Chatbots in the sidebar, select the assistant and go to its Preview tab.
- Ask a question in each language your visitors use. Include questions your pages answer well.
- Read each reply. If one comes back in the wrong language, adjust your Custom Instruction or add source content in that language, save, and ask again.
Preview is a test chat only you can see. It becomes available once the assistant has indexed content, and it uses the same Custom Instructions as the live assistant. Questions you ask in Preview count toward your plan’s monthly AI messages, the same allowance your visitors use.
What Flidu Does Not Do
- It does not translate your website content, your widget text or Ask AI replies.
- It does not show different widget text to different visitors based on their browser language.
- It does not offer translated versions of the built-in wording.
