Channel Order And Grouping
Drag channels into the order visitors should see, publish the new order, and from Website Widgets Business group channels under titled sections.
The Contact side of your widget lists its channels from top to bottom. You set that order in the Channel Builder, and on Website Widgets Business or Agency you can also split the list into titled sections such as "Talk to Us" and "Browse". Order and sections are both saved as drafts first and published separately, so nothing moves on your site until you say so.
Where To Find It
Open Website Widgets in the dashboard sidebar, open your website, and go to the Channels tab. The Channel Builder card lists the widget’s channels. The Channel Groups / Sections card sits further down, below Plan Allowances. If the website has more than one widget, pick the right one in the selector on the Overview tab first, because each widget has its own channels and order.
Reorder Channels
- In the Channel Builder list, drag a channel by the grip at the left of its row. With a keyboard, focus the grip and press Arrow Up or Arrow Down; Home and End move the channel to the top or bottom.
- A notice confirms Order saved as a draft. Your site still shows the previous order.
- Click Publish order in the banner above the list. The notice then reads Order published.
Publish order publishes position and nothing else. It covers channels that have already been published and have no other unpublished edits. A channel with other draft changes takes its new position when you click Publish changes in its own editor, and a channel that was never published takes its place the first time you publish it. Reordering is available on every plan. It is held back while a channel editor has unsaved changes, so save or discard those first.
Group Channels Into Sections
Sections are included from Website Widgets Business. Click View Example in the Channel Groups / Sections card to see how a grouped widget looks before you build one.
- Publish the channels you want to group. A section can only go live when every channel in it is already live.
- In the Channel Groups / Sections card, click Add Section.
- Enter a Group title. Visitors read it as the heading of the section. Add a Short description if you want a line under the heading.
- Under Channels in this section, tick the channels that belong together.
- Leave Enabled in draft on and click Save as Draft.
- The section stays open after saving. Click Publish group, and the notice reads Group published.
Once a section exists, the Channel Builder list shows your channels under their section titles, and the rest under Not in a section. From there you can:
- Drag a section by the grip in its title bar to move the whole section up or down.
- Drag channels inside a section to change their order within it.
- Type a new name into a section’s title. The name is saved as a draft, and you publish it by opening the section in the Channel Groups / Sections card and clicking Publish group.
- Move a channel to another section by opening each section’s card and changing the ticks, then saving and publishing both.
Moving live sections, or the channels inside them, is saved as a draft like any other reorder and goes live with Publish order.
Turn Sections Off Without Losing Them
On a plan that includes sections, the Group channels switch appears in the Channel Groups / Sections card once you have at least one section. It turns every section off or on in the draft. Off means visitors get one flat list again. The change is saved as a draft, and the banner above the Channel Builder list then offers Publish layout. Your sections and their channels are kept either way. To switch off one section only, open it and click Disable live.
What Visitors See
Each live section appears with its title as a small heading, its description underneath if you wrote one, and then its channels in the order you set. Sections follow the order you gave them. Channels that are not in any section come after the last section. A section shows only the channels that are live, and a section with no live channel is left out.

If It Does Not Behave As Expected
- The new order is not on your site. Check for the banner with Publish order, then reload the page. Published changes show the next time a page loads.
- There is no Publish order banner. The channels you moved are drafts or have other unpublished edits. Publish them from their editors and the order goes with them.
- Publish group is refused. A channel in the section is still a draft or turned off, or no channel is ticked. Publish the channels first, then the section.
- A section is missing from the widget. None of its channels is live, or a channel in it is also ticked in an earlier section. Keep each channel in one section.
- A channel cannot be dragged. Channels listed under Original channels were set up before the Channel Builder and are read-only. They show above your Channel Builder channels until you publish a Channel Builder channel of the same type, which replaces them.
- Add Section is not offered. On Free and Starter the card shows View Example and Upgrade only.
