Colors, Position, And Launcher Style

Set a widget’s brand color, light or dark theme, corner position and launcher attention effect, and see which changes apply at once and which need publishing.

Every Website Widget has its own look: a brand color, a light or dark theme, and a corner of the page for its launcher. You set these on the widget’s Appearance tab. They are included on every Website Widgets plan, and the same look applies to the Contact tab and to Ask AI when one widget carries both.

Where To Find The Appearance Settings

  1. In the dashboard sidebar, open Website Widgets and select your website.
  2. If the website has more than one widget, choose the one you want in the Website Widgets card on the Overview tab. Each widget keeps its own appearance.
  3. Open the Appearance tab. The card is titled Widget Appearance.

Owners and Admins can change these settings. The Live Preview updates as you edit. It is a dashboard rendering of the widget, so confirm the launcher’s color and corner on your website. You also pick a starting color and position in the Appearance step when you first create a widget; everything can be changed later on this tab.

The same tab holds the Widget Title, the heading visitors read at the top of the widget. It is covered in Visitor-Facing Labels.

Brand Color

Brand Color is the main color of the widget. Visitors see it on the launcher button, on the send buttons inside forms and Ask AI, as the underline of the selected tab, and on their own messages in Ask AI.

Pick one of the ten preset swatches, or type your own value. The selector beside the field switches between HEX, RGB and HSL, so you can enter the value in whichever format your brand guidelines use.

Choose A Color With Enough ContrastThe chat icon on the launcher is always white. A dark or strong color keeps it easy to see, while a very pale color makes the launcher hard to spot on the page.

Channel Icon Colors

By default each channel icon keeps its own color, for example green for WhatsApp. Turn on Apply brand color to channel icons to give every icon circle your brand color instead. Icons you uploaded yourself are never recolored.

Widget Theme

Widget Theme has two options, Light and Dark. It sets the background and text colors of the open widget. The theme is fixed for each widget: it does not switch with the visitor’s device setting, and it is separate from the theme you use in the dashboard.

Position And The Launcher

The launcher is the round button that opens the widget. Under Position, choose Bottom-right (the default) or Bottom-left. The widget opens above the launcher, in the same corner.

  • There are two positions only. There is no top corner, centered placement, offset or spacing setting.
  • The Appearance tab has no size, shape, icon or text-label setting for the launcher.
  • On phone-width screens the open widget fills the screen, and the launcher is hidden until the visitor closes it.

Attention Effects On The Launcher

An attention effect plays a brief animation on the launcher to help visitors notice it. It lives on the Visibility & Targeting tab, in the Attention & Appearance group, on the card Widget Attention Effects.

  1. Turn on the switch on the card. The effect is saved as a draft, with Subtle Pulse selected the first time.
  2. Click Edit on the card and choose Subtle Pulse, Soft Ring or Gentle Wiggle.
  3. Set Trigger to On load or After a delay. With a delay, enter Delay (seconds), up to 60.
  4. Set Repeat to Once per page or Once per session.
  5. Click Save Changes if you changed anything. Then publish, with Publish Changes on the card or Publish at the foot of the tab.

The switch matters: settings saved while it is off stay stored, but the effect is not published. Widget Attention Effects are included from Website Widgets Pro. On Free and Starter the card is preview only: you can prepare the setting, but it does not go live until you upgrade. Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion never see the animation. An Ask AI-only widget does not have Visibility & Targeting controls, so it has no attention effect. The plan comparison on Pricing lists every plan.

When Changes Take Effect

Appearance settings save by themselves as you change them, and a short Appearance Saved message confirms each one. There is no publish step. The installed widget uses the new look the next time a page loads; a page that is already open keeps the old look until it is reloaded.

Attention effects work differently, as do channels and visibility rules: you save them first, and they go live only after you publish.

If The Look Does Not Match

  • Your site still shows the old color or corner. Reload the page. An open page does not update itself.
  • The change went to a different widget. Each widget has its own appearance and its own install snippet. Confirm on the Overview tab that you edited the widget whose snippet is on that page.
  • Two launchers sit on top of each other. When two widgets load on the same page and use the same corner, one covers the other. Give them different corners.
  • The attention effect does not play. It needs Website Widgets Pro or higher, its switch must be on, and it must be published. It is skipped for visitors who have reduced motion turned on.
  • A change does not save. A Viewer can look at a widget’s setup but cannot change it. Ask an Owner or Admin of the workspace.
