Upgrades, Downgrades, And Proration
How plan changes work on each product line: checkout for a first paid plan, a reviewed change with prorated or next-billing-date timing, and cancelling back to Free.
Website Widgets and AI Chatbot change plan separately, so every step here applies to one product line at a time. There are three kinds of change: starting your first paid plan on a line, moving between paid plans or billing cycles, and going back to Free. All of them are made in Billing by the workspace Owner or an Admin with billing access.
Start A Paid Plan From Free
- Open Billing. For Website Widgets, select the Website Widgets tab and click Change Plan on the Current Plan card. For AI Chatbot, select the AI Chatbot tab and click Upgrade AI Plan. A plan card’s own button, such as Choose Pro, opens the drawer on that plan.
- In the drawer, pick Monthly or Yearly. The saving for yearly billing is shown beside the switch.
- Select a plan. For Agency, choose a preset.
- Click Upgrade to followed by the plan name. For a Website Widgets Agency preset the button reads Choose followed by the preset name. A review compares your current plan with the selected one and lists what changes.
- Confirm with Upgrade Website Widgets or Upgrade AI Chatbot. You are taken to the payment provider’s secure checkout, run by Dodo Payments.
- After paying you return to Billing.
Change A Plan You Already Pay For
When a line already has an active subscription, the drawer offers a reviewed plan change instead of a new checkout. The same control handles an upgrade, a downgrade to a lower paid plan, a different Agency preset, and a switch between monthly and yearly.
- Open the plan drawer for the product line and select the plan and billing cycle you want. On Website Widgets, use Change Plan or a plan card’s button. On a paid AI Chatbot plan there is no Upgrade AI Plan button, so use a plan card’s button, such as Choose Business.
- Set Change timing to Next billing date or Immediately, prorated. Next billing date is selected by default.
- Click Review plan change. The review shows the current and selected plan, the recurring amount before tax, the timing, the effective date, the payment provider’s preview total, tax, and any customer credits. Existing offers are preserved.
- Click Confirm plan change, or Keep current plan to leave things as they are.
- Billing shows a banner such as “Website Widgets: Pro change pending” until the payment provider confirms the change. Your current plan stays in place until then.
How Timing And Proration Work
| Change Timing | What You Pay Now | When The New Plan Applies |
|---|---|---|
| Immediately, prorated | The payment provider works out a prorated amount, and the review shows it as Provider preview total, with Tax in preview and Customer credits. Confirming authorises that charge to your saved payment method. | As soon as the payment provider confirms the change. If the payment fails, your current plan stays in place. |
| Next billing date | Nothing. No immediate charge is previewed. | At your next billing date. You keep your current plan and its limits until the period ends. |
The figures always come from the payment provider’s own preview, so check the review before you confirm. A review is valid for a short time. If the price or the subscription changes before you confirm, Flidu asks you to review the plan again rather than charging a different amount.
Downgrade Or Cancel To Free
To move to a lower paid plan, use the reviewed plan change above. To return a line to Free, cancel its plan:
- On the product line’s tab in Billing, click Cancel Plan on the current plan card.
- Read the Cancel Website Widgets? or Cancel AI Chatbot? dialog and tick the acknowledgement.
- Click Cancel Website Widgets or Cancel AI Chatbot. Keep Website Widgets or Keep AI Chatbot closes the dialog without cancelling.
A cancellation is never an immediate downgrade. The plan stays active until the end of the billing period you have paid for, and the card shows the end date. After that the line is on Free. The other product line is not affected.
The dashboard has no button to undo a scheduled cancellation. If you change your mind before the end date, contact us. Once the line is back on Free you can start a paid plan again at any time.
What Happens To Your Setup On A Lower Plan
- Saved configuration is kept. Premium channels and settings you built stay in the dashboard.
- What visitors see follows the new plan. A channel type the plan does not include stops being served and shows as preview only until you upgrade again.
- Limits follow the new plan when it takes effect, so anything you add or publish afterwards is checked against them.
- On AI Chatbot, your assistants and indexed sources are not deleted.
- If neither line is on Business or higher, the Powered by Flidu link shows on your widgets again.
- Bundle & Save ends if either line stops being paid. See Bundle & Save.
If A Change Does Not Go Through
- The button reads Checkout unavailable. Online checkout is not available for that option. Choose another option or contact us.
- The Website Widgets button reads Plan change unavailable. An online plan change needs an active subscription that the payment provider has confirmed.
- “A verified price review is unavailable right now.” Your current plan remains in place. A line that is scheduled to cancel cannot be changed online and shows this message. Otherwise, try again later.
- “A plan change is already pending.” Wait for the first change to be confirmed. Your current access stays in place meanwhile.
- “The payment provider could not accept this change.” Your current plan remains. Check your payment method under Payment Settings, then try again.
- Selecting Free in the drawer shows Use Cancel Plan for Free. A paid line returns to Free through Cancel Plan on the current plan card, not through the drawer.
- The plan has not changed after you paid. See I Paid But My Plan Has Not Updated. For a failed charge, see My Payment Failed.
