Platform Placement Notes
What to look for when you add the Flidu snippet on a site builder or a hand-built site: one site-wide area that places code at the end of every page.
The Flidu snippet goes in the same logical place on every platform: once, site-wide, at the end of the page body. Platforms differ only in what they call that place and how you reach it. These notes describe what to look for. Menu names change between versions, themes and plans, so use your platform’s own help for the exact clicks.
What You Are Looking For
Whatever the platform, you need a setting with three properties:
- It accepts a script tag. The snippet is one line of HTML, copied from your widget’s Install tab. A plain text field or a link field will not run it.
- It applies to the whole site. A site-wide area puts the snippet on every page, including pages you add later. Page-level areas are for a widget meant for one page only.
- It places code at the end of the body. Look for wording such as footer code, end of body, or before the closing body tag. This is the position the Install tab asks for. A head area is the fallback when nothing else is offered.
Where To Paste The Script explains why the end of the body is preferred and what must stay unchanged in the tag.
Notes By Platform
| Platform | Where A Site-Wide Script Usually Goes | Worth Knowing |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | A footer-scripts or custom-code setting in your theme’s options, where your theme provides one. | WordPress has no single built-in box for site-wide scripts, so where the setting sits depends on your theme and on how the site was built. If you cannot find it, ask whoever built the site. |
| Webflow | The custom code section of your site settings, in the field for footer code. | Page settings have their own field for code before the closing body tag, for a widget meant for one page. |
| Framer | The Custom Code section of your site or project settings, with the placement set to the end of the body. | Page settings have a separate custom code area for a single page. |
| Shopify | The theme’s main layout file, which the pages of your storefront share. Paste the snippet just above the closing body tag. | This is an edit to one theme. If you switch themes, add the snippet to the new one. |
| Squarespace | Code Injection, in the Footer field. | Our guide to adding a WhatsApp button to Squarespace walks through it, including a single-page install. |
| Wix | The custom code setting in your site settings, applied to all pages and placed at the end of the body. | You choose the pages and the placement when you add the code. |
| Hand-built site | The shared layout or footer template that every page uses, just before the closing body tag. | If your pages are separate HTML files with no shared template, the snippet goes into each file. |
Rules That Apply On Every Platform
- Paste once. If your platform has both a site-wide area and a page-level one, use one of them for a given widget. The same snippet in both runs twice on that page.
- Publish the site. Code saved in an editor or a draft is not on your live site until you publish. Editor previews do not always run custom code, so judge the result on the published site.
- Leave the tag as copied. Some platforms and performance tools combine, delay or rewrite scripts. Flidu reads its widget key from its own tag, so if the widget does not appear while such a tool is switched on, exclude the Flidu script from it.
- Clear caches. If your site or host caches pages, clear the cache after pasting so visitors receive the version of the page that includes the snippet.
One Page Instead Of The Whole Site
Many builders also have a page-level code area. Use it when a widget is meant for a single landing page or campaign: the snippet goes on that page only, and the widget never loads anywhere else. This placement works on every Website Widgets plan. See Page-Specific Widgets For Campaigns.
If you would sooner paste once and control pages from the dashboard, put the snippet site-wide and use Page Targeting on the widget’s Visibility & Targeting tab. Page Targeting is included from Website Widgets Pro. Show Widgets By Page Or Device has the details.
Check Any Platform The Same Way
The check does not depend on the platform. Open a page of your published site, then open the widget’s Install tab and click Verify Installation. “Not detected yet” means Flidu has not seen the script load for that widget. Once it has, the tab confirms the installation and shows when the widget was last detected. Verify Your Installation covers each status.
