I Do Not Know Where To Paste The Snippet On My Website Builder
Look for your builder’s site-wide custom code setting and choose the footer or end-of-body position. Paste the snippet there once, publish the site, then check it on the Install tab.
Website builders name their code settings differently, but the Flidu snippet always belongs in the same kind of place: a site-wide code area that adds code at the end of every page. This article helps you recognise that place in your builder, and tells you what to do when you cannot find one.
What To Look For In Your Builder
Open the settings for your whole site, not the settings of a single page. Look for a section named something like custom code, code injection, scripts, or header and footer code. Inside it, pick the field or option for the footer, the end of the body, or before the closing body tag.
You have found the right setting when all three of these are true:
- It accepts HTML code. The snippet is one script tag. A text box, a link field or a button field will not run it.
- It applies to every page. That includes pages you add later.
- It places code at the end of the page body. This is the position the Install tab asks for: “Paste this before the closing
</body>tag of your website.”
Platform Placement Notes describes where this setting usually sits on WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix and hand-built sites. Menu names change between versions and themes, so use your builder’s own help for the exact clicks.
Paste, Publish, Then Check
- In Flidu, open Website Widgets, choose your website, open the Install tab and click Copy.
- Paste the snippet into the site-wide footer or end-of-body code area. Paste it once and leave it exactly as copied.
- Save, then publish your website. Code saved in an editor is not on the live site until you publish.
- Open a page of the published site in your browser.
- Back on the Install tab, click Verify Installation. The status changes from “Not detected yet” to a confirmation with a “Last detected” time.
If You Cannot Find A Place That Fits
- Only a head area is offered. Use it. The Install tab says the snippet “Also works inside the
<head>section if needed.” Check the live page afterwards. - Only page-level code is offered. Paste the snippet into the code area of each page where the widget should appear. A page without the snippet never loads the widget, so remember to add it to pages you create later.
- Only an embed or HTML block is offered. A block placed inside the page content is a poor fit. Some builders run such a block inside a boxed frame, and the widget is then drawn inside that box instead of in the corner of the page. If that is what you see, move the snippet to a code setting at site or page level.
- There is no custom code setting at all. Some builders include custom code only on certain plans of their own. Check what your builder plan includes. This is separate from Flidu: the install snippet is available on every Flidu plan.
- Someone else manages the site. Copy the snippet and send it to them with the placement instruction from the Install tab. I Cannot Find My Install Snippet shows where to copy it.
Mistakes That Stop The Widget Loading
- Pasting into a text field. The snippet then shows on your page as readable text. Remove it and use a field that accepts code.
- Pasting twice. If the snippet is in a site-wide area and in a page-level area as well, it runs twice on that page and draws the widget twice, one launcher on top of the other. Use one area for a given widget.
- Changing the tag. The script reads its widget key from its own tag, so the tag has to reach the page as you copied it. If your site has a tool that combines, delays or rewrites scripts and the widget does not appear, exclude the Flidu script from it.
- Judging by the editor preview. Editor previews do not always run custom code. Check the published site.
- Leaving an old cache in place. If your site or host caches pages, clear the cache after pasting, so visitors receive the page that includes the snippet.
What A Correct Result Looks Like
The snippet appears once in the source of each live page. The Install tab confirms the installation and shows when the widget was last detected, and the launcher sits in the bottom corner of your site. From then on you leave the snippet alone: channels, appearance and targeting are managed in the dashboard.
