I Cannot Find My Install Snippet

Your snippet is on the Install tab of each widget: open Website Widgets, choose the website, then open Install. Each widget has its own snippet, and you can copy it again at any time.

Every widget has one install snippet, and it lives in one place: the Install tab of that widget. If you cannot see it, you are usually on a different page of the dashboard, in a different workspace, or looking at a different widget. Start with the path below, then work through the checks in order.

Where The Snippet Lives

  1. In the dashboard, open Website Widgets. On a phone it is the Widgets tab in the bottom bar.
  2. Choose your website from the list.
  3. Open the Install tab. It comes after Overview, Channels, Appearance and Visibility & Targeting in the row of tabs.
  4. The Install Widget card shows the snippet. Click Copy. The button confirms with “Copied”.

There is a shortcut on the Overview tab: its Install card has a View Install Snippet button that opens the same tab.

The snippet is one script tag. It starts with <script src= and carries a data-widget value, which is that widget’s own key. The key does not change, so you can come back and copy the same snippet again whenever you need it.

If You Still Cannot See It

  • The row of tabs is cut off. On a phone, or in a narrow browser window, the tabs sit in one row that scrolls sideways. Swipe the row to bring Install into view.
  • There is no website yet. If Website Widgets reads “No sites yet”, nothing has been created to install. Click Create Your First Site and finish the New Website Widget flow. The widget’s page opens when you are done, with its Install tab. See Create A Website Widget.
  • You are in another workspace. Websites belong to a workspace. If the list does not show the website you expect, open the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar and pick the right one under Switch Workspace. On a phone, open More in the bottom bar, then Workspaces, and tap Open next to the workspace you want.
  • The website has more than one widget. Each widget has its own snippet, and the Install tab shows the snippet of the widget that is selected. On the Overview tab, the Website Widgets card has a selector showing the current widget’s name. Choose the widget you want, then open Install.
  • You set up an AI Chatbot, not a Website Widget. An AI Chatbot installed as Ask AI-only is installed with the same kind of snippet. Open AI Chatbots, open the assistant, go to its Preview tab, and in the Connection section click Get install code. It opens the Install tab for that install.
Ask AI Inside A Website Widget Has No Second SnippetWhen an AI Chatbot is connected to a Website Widget, Contact and Ask AI load through that widget’s one snippet. There is nothing extra to find or paste.

Make Sure It Is The Right Snippet

Finding a snippet is not quite the same as finding the right one. Three checks save time later:

  • Match the widget. The snippet on your site must be the one from the widget you manage. To compare, view the source of a live page, search for widget.js, and check that its data-widget value is the same as the one on that widget’s Install tab.
  • Check the widget is published. A draft widget still shows its snippet, but it is not served to any website. The Install card on the Overview tab reads “Draft · not live yet” in that case. Click Publish in the Website Widgets card first.
  • Copy, do not retype. The address and the key have to arrive exactly as shown, so use the Copy button instead of typing the tag out.

If the tag already on your site has a data-site attribute instead of data-widget, it is an older form of the snippet. It keeps working and loads the website’s default widget. For anything new, copy the current snippet from the Install tab.

When Someone Else Edits Your WebsiteCopy the snippet and send it to that person together with the instruction printed under it on the Install tab: “Paste this before the closing </body> tag of your website.” The snippet only tells Flidu which widget to load. It is the same tag that appears in your page source once it is installed.

What A Correct Result Looks Like

You are on the Install tab of the widget you want, the Install Widget card shows one script tag with a data-widget value, and Copy puts it on your clipboard. Under the snippet, the status reads “Not detected yet” until a page carrying it has loaded on your site.
