I Installed The Snippet But Nothing Happens

Read the status on the widget’s Install tab first. Not detected yet means the script on your site is not reaching Flidu. A detected widget with no launcher is being hidden by a rule or covered on the page.

You pasted the snippet, opened your site, and no launcher appeared. The quickest way to the cause is the status on the widget’s Install tab, because it tells you whether the script on your site has reached Flidu at all. Read it first, then follow the section that matches what you see.

Read The Install Status First

  1. Open a page of your published site in a private browser window and let it finish loading.
  2. In the dashboard, open Website Widgets, choose the website, and open the Install tab.
  3. Click Verify Installation. If the widget has been detected before, the same button reads Refresh Status.
  • “Not detected yet.” No page carrying this widget’s snippet has reached Flidu while the widget was published and its website active. Go to the next section.
  • “Nice job! The widget installation was successful”, with “Last detected just now.” The script ran and Flidu answered it. Skip to the section on a widget that is detected but does not appear.

Watch the time. If “Last detected” shows hours or days ago, it records an earlier load and not the one you made a moment ago. Treat that as not detected.

If The Status Says Not Detected Yet

The script is not running on the page, or it runs and cannot find a widget to load. Check these in order:

  1. The snippet is not on the published page. View the source of the live page and search for widget.js. If it is missing, the site was not published after you pasted, the code area you used does not apply to that page, or the page is coming from a cache. Paste the snippet into a site-wide footer or end-of-body code area, publish the site, and clear any cache. I Do Not Know Where To Paste The Snippet On My Website Builder helps you find that area.
  2. The tag changed on the way to the page. The script learns which widget to load from the data-widget attribute on its own tag, and reaches Flidu through the address in that tag. If the attribute is missing, if the file was copied to your own server, or if a tool on your site combines, delays or rewrites scripts, the script stops without drawing anything. Paste the snippet unchanged, and exclude it from any such tool.
  3. The snippet shows as text. If you can read the snippet on your page as words, it went into a text field. It needs a field that accepts HTML code.
  4. The snippet belongs to another widget. Each widget has its own key. Compare the data-widget value in your page source with the snippet on the Install tab of the widget you are checking.
  5. The widget is a draft. On the Overview tab, the Install card reads “Draft · not live yet”. A draft widget is not served to any website. Click Publish in the Website Widgets card. This uses one published-widget slot.
  6. The website is switched off. The Install card reads “Website paused · not live”. On the Settings tab, turn Site Status on.
  7. Something blocks the script. A content blocker in your own browser can stop it, and so can a security policy on your site that only allows scripts from listed addresses. Test in a private window with extensions off, and allow the address shown in the snippet.

After each fix, load the live page again, then click Verify Installation on the Install tab. The status only changes after a page with the snippet has loaded.

If The Widget Is Detected But Nothing Appears

The script works. Either Flidu told it to draw nothing on this page, or the launcher is drawn where you cannot see it.

  • A rule hides the widget here. Device, page, traffic source, date, days-and-hours and country rules are checked each time a page loads. When the visit falls outside a published rule and the widget has no Ask AI, nothing is drawn, launcher included. Open Visibility & Targeting and look at every card marked Active. See My Widget Shows On The Wrong Pages and My Widget Is Not Showing On Mobile.
  • The snippet sits in the head. The Install tab asks for the position before the closing </body> tag. If yours is in the head and the launcher does not appear, move it to the end of the body.
  • Something covers the corner. The launcher sits in the bottom-right or bottom-left corner. A cookie banner, a sticky bar or another floating button in the same corner can lie on top of it. Change Position on the Appearance tab to test the other corner. Position changes apply without publishing.
  • The page was already open. A page that is open in your browser does not update itself. Reload it.

What A Correct Result Looks Like

  • The Install tab shows the success line with “Last detected just now”, and the button reads Refresh Status.
  • The Install card on the Overview tab reads “Live on” followed by your domain.
  • On your site, the launcher sits in the corner you chose, and opening it shows your published channels.
The Launcher Opens To An Empty PanelThat is a different case. The install is working, but no channel has been published yet. Open the Channels tab, complete a channel, click Save as Draft, then Publish changes.

If the launcher is still missing after these checks, Flidu Widget Is Not Appearing On My Website walks through the remaining causes. You can also contact us with your workspace name, the website address and the status shown on the Install tab.
