My Widget Is Not Showing On Mobile
Only one Flidu setting can hide a widget on phones alone: Widget Visibility by Device. Check that Mobile is selected and published, then look at the page your phone receives from your site.
Your widget appears on a computer but not on a phone. Flidu has one setting that can hide a widget on phones alone, Widget Visibility by Device, so check that first. If it is not the cause, the difference lies in your site or in the phone’s browser.
Check The Device Setting
- In the dashboard, open Website Widgets, choose the website, and open the Visibility & Targeting tab.
- Find the Widget Visibility by Device card and read its status.
- If it reads Active, click Edit. Three tiles appear: Desktop, Tablet and Mobile. A selected tile carries a tick, and the Preview line states the result, for example “Visible on desktop and tablet.”
- Click Mobile to select it, then click Save Changes. If Mobile already carries a tick, the change may be saved but not published yet.
- Click Publish at the foot of the tab. Visitors see the edit only once you publish.
| Card Status | What It Means For Phones |
|---|---|
| Not configured, or Configured · Off | No device rule is live. This setting is not hiding your widget. |
| Draft changes | A device rule is saved but not live, so it is not hiding your widget yet. |
| Active | The device rule is live. Phones get the widget only when Mobile is selected. |
| Republish needed | The rule was switched off in the draft, but the live widget still uses it. Click Publish. |
| Preview only, or Preview · Draft only | Your plan does not publish this setting, so it cannot be hiding your widget. |
| Temporarily limited | The rule is paused on your live widget for now, so it is not hiding your widget. |
Widget Visibility by Device is included from Website Widgets Starter. Rules belong to one widget, so if the website has several, choose the right one in the Website Widgets card on the Overview tab first.
How Flidu Decides What Counts As Mobile
The device type comes from the width of the browser window when the page loads. It does not come from the make or model of the device. Three things follow from that:
- A phone held sideways can be wide enough to count as a tablet. Under a live device rule that leaves Tablet out, that visitor does not get the widget.
- The device type is read when the page loads. After you turn the phone or resize a window, reload the page before you judge the result.
- You can test from a computer. Make the browser window as narrow as a phone screen and reload the page. If the widget disappears, a device rule is the likely cause. If it still shows there but not on your phone, keep reading.
If The Device Setting Is Not The Cause
- Your phone is loading an older copy of the page. Phone browsers and site caches hold on to pages. Open the page in a private tab on the phone, and clear your site’s cache if it has one.
- The mobile version of your site does not carry the snippet. The widget loads only on pages that carry its snippet. If your site serves phones a separate theme, template or page, the snippet has to be in that version too. Where To Paste The Script covers site-wide placement.
- Another rule hides the Contact side. Page, traffic source, date, days-and-hours and country rules apply on every device. If one of those cards is Active, compare the same page, opened the same way, on both devices. See My Widget Shows On The Wrong Pages.
- Something covers the corner on a small screen. A cookie banner, a sticky bar or another floating button can lie on top of the launcher on a narrow screen. Dismiss the banner and look again, or change Position on the Appearance tab between Bottom-right and Bottom-left. Position changes apply without publishing.
- A content blocker on the phone removes the script. Some phone browsers and blocking apps stop scripts that come from another address. Switch the blocking off for your site and load the page again.
What Is Normal On A Phone
On a phone-width screen the opened widget fills the screen, and the launcher is hidden while it is open. A close button appears at the top of the panel, and the launcher returns when the panel closes. That is how the widget is meant to behave on a small screen.
What A Correct Result Looks Like
On the Widget Visibility by Device card, either the status is Active with Mobile ticked, or no device rule is live at all. On a phone, a fresh load of the page shows the launcher in the corner you chose. Tap it, and your published channels open full screen. Show Widgets By Page Or Device covers the setting in full.
