Verify Your Installation
Use Verify Installation on the widget’s Install tab to confirm your site has loaded the script, then check the live page to confirm what visitors see.
After you paste the snippet, Flidu can tell you whether your website has loaded it. That check lives on the widget’s Install tab and answers one question: has a page carrying this widget’s snippet loaded? What visitors then see depends on what you have published, so a full check has two parts: the status in the dashboard, and a look at your live site.
Run The Check
- Publish your website with the snippet in place.
- Open a page of the live site that carries the snippet. The preview inside the dashboard does not count: the script has to load on a real page.
- In the dashboard, open Website Widgets, choose the website, and open the Install tab.
- Click Verify Installation.
The button reads “Checking…” while it runs. The status also refreshes by itself while the tab is open and when you return to the window, so it may change without a click.
What The Install Tab Tells You
| What You See | What It Means |
|---|---|
| “Not detected yet”, with “Open your website, then refresh status.” | No page carrying this widget’s snippet has loaded so far, or the widget is not being served yet. |
| “Nice job! The widget installation was successful”, with “Last detected just now” or how many minutes, hours, days or months ago | A page carrying the snippet loaded at that time. The button now reads Refresh Status. |
| “Installed before, but not seen recently.” after the last-detected time | The widget was detected in the past, but not for a long while. Check that the snippet is still on your site. |
What The Overview Tab Tells You
The Overview tab has its own Install card with one status line and a View Install Snippet button:
- “Live on” followed by your domain. The widget is published and has been detected at least once.
- “Published · not seen on” your domain “yet”. The widget is published, but no page has loaded it so far.
- “Draft · not live yet”. The widget is a draft, so it is not served to any website.
- “Website paused · not live”. Site Status is switched off for the website on the Settings tab.
The domain in that line is the one saved for the website on the Settings tab. The card does not show a time. For that, read “Last detected” on the Install tab.
What The Check Does Not Cover
- It is not a monitor. The status records the last time a page with your snippet loaded. Flidu does not alert you if the snippet is removed later. On a site that has been live for a while, the “Last detected” time is the thing to read.
- It does not say which page loaded. The status belongs to the widget as a whole, not to one page. To check a particular page, open that page on your live site and look for the widget there.
- It does not confirm what visitors see. The script can load on a page where your rules hide the widget, or before any channel is published.
Check The Live Page
With the status confirmed, look at your site the way a visitor would, ideally in a private browser window:
- The launcher sits in the corner you chose on the Appearance tab: bottom-right or bottom-left.
- Opening it shows your published channels. Channels still marked Draft on the Channels tab are not shown, so publish at least one before you check.
- If an AI Chatbot is connected to the widget, the Ask AI tab appears once Ask AI has been published. If the tab is missing, open the AI Chatbot’s Preview tab and look at the Connection section: its status should read Published.
- Open each channel once. For a form, send a test message from the live site: forms accept submissions only from the Domain saved on the website’s Settings tab.
- If you use Widget Visibility by Device or Page Targeting, repeat the check on a phone and on a page your rules cover.
Changes you publish later show the next time a page loads. A page that is already open in a browser does not update itself, so reload before you judge a change.
If It Still Says Not Detected Yet
Work through these in order:
- Load a live page first. The status only changes after a page with the snippet has loaded. Open your site, then click the button again.
- Check the snippet is on the published site. View the source of a live page and search for
widget.js. It should appear once, with adata-widgetvalue (an earlier form of the snippet usesdata-siteinstead). If it is missing, the site was not published after the paste, or the snippet went somewhere that does not apply to that page. - Check it is the right widget. Each widget has its own snippet. If the website has several widgets, the snippet on your site must be the one shown on the Install tab of the widget you are checking.
- Check the widget is published. A draft widget is not served and is never detected. On the Overview tab, the widget selector in the Website Widgets card labels each widget Published or Draft. Select the draft widget there and click Publish. Publishing needs a free published-widget slot on your Website Widgets plan.
- Check the website is active. On the Settings tab, Site Status must be on. While it is off, the widget does not appear and is not detected.
- Check the tag was not changed. The script needs the attribute it was copied with and its original address. Where To Paste The Script lists what must stay as copied.
