A Teammate Cannot See Or Edit Something
Access comes from the workspace a teammate has open and their role in it. A Viewer is read-only, an Admin needs the Owner for roles and billing, and some locks come from the plan.
What a teammate can open or change in Flidu depends on three things: the workspace they have open, their role in that workspace, and the workspace’s plan. A role covers the whole workspace. There is no way to give someone access to one website, one widget or one AI Chatbot only. Work through the checks below in order.
Check Which Workspace They Have Open
Websites, widgets, AI Chatbots, records and the team list all belong to one workspace. A teammate who also has a workspace of their own may be looking at that one. Ask them to open the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar. Under Switch Workspace, each workspace is listed with their role in it, and the current one has a tick. Selecting your workspace changes everything the dashboard shows.
If your workspace is not in their list, they have not joined it yet. See My Teammate Did Not Get Their Invitation.
Check Their Role
Open Team in the sidebar. Under Active Members, every person has a badge: Owner, Admin or Viewer. Your teammate can read their own role on their row, which is marked You.
| Role | Can Do | Cannot Do |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Everything in the workspace, including billing. | Leave the workspace before transferring ownership. |
| Admin | Manage websites, widgets, channels, AI Chatbots and data sources. Invite people and manage pending invitations. Export where the plan allows. | Change roles, remove members, transfer ownership, request workspace removal or create another workspace. Open Billing, unless the Owner allows it. |
| Viewer | Open the dashboard, websites, widgets, AI Chatbots, the team list and Workspace Settings, plus the Data Hub records and Analytics the plan includes. | Change, export or delete anything, invite people, or open Billing. |
What A Viewer Sees
A Viewer has read-only access, and Flidu says so in several places:
- On a wide screen, the read-only sections in the sidebar carry a small View marker, and Billing is not listed.
- In the Create menu, New Website Widget and New AI Chatbot are locked, with the note “Ask a workspace owner to do this.”
- The Team page says “You have read-only access to this workspace.” and does not list pending invitations.
- In Workspace Settings, the details are read-only, and the Powered by Flidu card says branding is managed by workspace owners and admins.
- In the Data Hub, the Exports and Notification Controls tabs say they are available to workspace owners and admins.
Some detailed Analytics breakdowns, and the Agency client overview, are also for the Owner and Admins only. None of this is a fault. If the teammate needs to make changes, the Owner changes their role to Admin.
Change A Role
Only the Owner can change the role of someone who has already joined.
- Open Team and find the person under Active Members.
- Open the menu at the end of their row and choose Change Role.
- Under New Role, select Admin or Viewer.
- Select Save Role. The page confirms with Role updated.
Moving an Admin to Viewer removes their editing access and their billing access. Nobody can be made Owner here: that happens only through an ownership transfer, covered in I Need To Transfer Ownership Or Remove A Workspace.
What An Admin Cannot Do
An Admin manages the products, but not the people or the billing. On the Team page, an Admin sees the Owner’s actions greyed out with the reason, for example “Only the Owner can change roles in this workspace.”
- Billing. An Admin sees Billing in the sidebar only after the Owner allows it. The Owner opens the Admin’s menu on the Team page, chooses Manage Billing Access, switches on Allow Billing Access and selects Save. It is off by default.
- Roles and removal. Only the Owner can change a role or remove a member.
- Ownership and the workspace itself. Only the Owner can transfer ownership, request workspace removal or create another workspace.
When The Plan Is The Reason
Some things are locked for everyone in the workspace, the Owner included, because of the plan and not the role.
- A lock beside Data Hub in the sidebar means the workspace’s plans do not include it.
- A channel marked Preview only can be set up but not published on the current Website Widgets plan. See A Channel Is Locked Or Marked Premium.
- Website Widgets and AI Chatbot have separate plans, so a feature can be included on one product line and not on the other.
Changing a role does not unlock these. Compare plans on Pricing.
What A Correct Result Looks Like
Your teammate has your workspace selected in the switcher, their row on the Team page shows the role you intended, and the pages they need open without a read-only notice. A role change takes effect as soon as it is saved. If they still see the old state, they reload the page.
