Ask AI Gave A Wrong Or Outdated Answer

Ask AI answers from the copy of your content that Flidu indexed. Recrawl the source after your site changes, ignore pages that should not be used, and save a correction for a question it keeps getting wrong.

Ask AI does not read your live website each time a visitor asks. It answers from the copy of your pages, files and entries that Flidu indexed, and it writes each reply itself from the parts that best match the question. A wrong or outdated answer therefore usually traces back to what is in that index. Find where the answer came from first, then apply the fix that matches.

Find Where The Answer Came From

  1. In the dashboard, open AI Chatbots, choose your assistant and open the Preview tab. It is open to the workspace Owner and Admins.
  2. Ask the question the way the visitor did. Preview uses the same sources and answer settings as your live widget, and its questions count toward your monthly AI messages.
  3. Read the Sources list under the reply. It names the pages Ask AI looked at for that question. The list appears when Source Cards are on and sources were found.
  4. Open the Data Sources tab and find those pages in Indexed Content. Each website page row shows the page address, the date it was indexed and a View link.

From AI Chatbot Starter, Chat Logs show real conversations with the sources each reply listed and any Not helpful feedback from visitors. Open Analytics, select the AI Chatbot tab, then Chat Logs. It is a good place to spot answers that need attention.

The Page Changed After It Was Indexed

Check this first for an outdated answer. Flidu updates its indexed copy of a website source only when you ask it to, so a page you edited after the last crawl is still held in its older form.

  1. On the Data Sources tab, find the source card that covers the page.
  2. Select Recrawl. If the button is unavailable, the card shows when Recrawl is available again.
  3. When it finishes, check the date on the page’s row in Indexed Content, then ask the question again in Preview.

Recrawl applies to Website URL, Sitemap and Manual URL List sources, and each plan has a monthly recrawl allowance that the assistant’s Usage tab counts. If a recrawl does not finish, the previously indexed version stays in use. A fact that comes from pasted text or Manual Q&A is updated in that source: select Edit on its card, make your change and select Save source, then select Start indexing on the card again. A file cannot be edited in place, so remove it and upload the new version.

An Old Or Unwanted Page Is Being Used

If the Sources list points at a page that should not be answering, such as an expired offer or an archived post, select Ignore on that page’s row in Indexed Content. It takes effect straight away, with no recrawl, on every AI Chatbot plan. When two indexed pages disagree, ignore the one that is out of date, or correct it on your website and recrawl its source. I Need To Stop Ask AI Using A Page goes through it step by step.

The Right Information Is Not In The Index

  • The page was never indexed. Website URL and Sitemap sources index a limited batch of pages per crawl. Name the page in a Manual URL List so it is read.
  • The fact sits in the header, menu, footer or sidebar. Flidu reads the main page text and leaves those elements out. Write the fact in the body of a page as well.
  • The text appears only after scripts run. Flidu reads the page as your server sends it.
  • The fact is not on your website. Add it as a Manual Text source or an uploaded file, or from AI Chatbot Starter as a Manual Q&A pair.

The number of sources and files you can add to one assistant depends on your AI Chatbot plan, and AI Chatbot Free allows one website, sitemap, URL-list or text source and one file. Add Website Data Sources covers each source type, and My Pages Are Not Being Indexed covers pages that will not index.

Save A Correction For One Question

From AI Chatbot Starter, the assistant’s Settings tab has a section called Corrections / Preferred Answers.

  1. Select Add Correction.
  2. Enter the Question and your Preferred answer.
  3. Select Save correction.

The correction is indexed straight away, with no recrawl, and saving another correction for the same question replaces the earlier one. Ask AI then has your reviewed answer to draw on. It still writes the reply itself, so the wording can differ from what you saved. Update the page behind the answer too, so the two agree. On AI Chatbot Free the section reads Available from AI Chatbot Starter.

Shape How Ask AI Replies

Three settings on the Settings tab affect replies without changing your sources. Select Save changes after editing any of them.

  • Answer length. Concise, Balanced or Detailed sets how long replies may be, within your plan’s limit. Detailed allows the longest replies your plan permits.
  • Custom Instructions, from AI Chatbot Starter. Add guidance such as “Avoid giving prices unless they appear in the indexed website content.” Instructions guide the assistant. They are not fixed rules and cannot override Flidu’s source-grounding rules.
  • Fresh Page Check, from AI Chatbot Starter and off by default. It can re-check the page behind an answer before replying, and may slow the reply. It does not update the indexed copy and does not replace a recrawl. See Fresh Page Check.

What A Correct Result Looks Like

Ask the question again in Preview. The reply reflects your current content, and the Sources list names the page you expect. There is nothing to publish after a recrawl, an ignore or a correction: once it has finished, the next question a visitor asks draws on the updated content. Ask AI writes every reply, so the wording will vary from one question to the next.
