Fresh Page Check

Fresh Page Check is an optional setting on paid AI Chatbot plans that can re-read the page behind an answer before Ask AI replies. It is off by default and does not replace a recrawl.

Ask AI answers from the copy of your pages that Flidu indexed. If a page changes after it was indexed, that copy is out of date until you recrawl the source. Fresh Page Check narrows the gap for pages that change often: before replying, Ask AI can re-read the page behind the answer and use a fresh excerpt of it.

What Fresh Page Check Does

When a visitor asks a question, Flidu finds the indexed content that matches it best. With Fresh Page Check on, Ask AI can re-read the website page behind that content before it answers. If the page text has changed since it was indexed, a short excerpt of the current text is used for that answer.

  • It works on website pages. That means pages from Website URL, Sitemap and Manual URL List sources. Files, pasted text and Manual Q&A have no live page to re-read.
  • It looks at the page behind the answer. It does not check every page on your site.
  • It does not run on every question. A page that was indexed or checked recently is not read again.
  • It uses a short excerpt. The fresh text is taken from the start of the page’s main content, so a change further down a long page may not reach the answer.
  • It follows your robots.txt rules, the same as indexing does.
  • It does not change your index. The fresh text is used for that one answer. The indexed copy stays as it is until you recrawl the source.
  • It can slow a reply. The dashboard says so on the setting: “May respond slower.”

When no fresh read is available for a question, Ask AI answers from the indexed copy as usual.

Turn On Fresh Page Check

  1. In the dashboard, open AI Chatbots, choose your assistant, and open the Settings tab.
  2. Find the Answer Intelligence section.
  3. Turn on the Fresh Page Check switch.
  4. Select Save changes, below the Custom Instructions section.

The setting is saved for that assistant only and applies from the next question. There is nothing to publish. It also applies to questions you ask in the assistant’s Preview tab, where the dashboard preview notes above the test chat show Fresh Page Check · On or Off. That is a quick way to confirm what is saved.

The workspace Owner and Admins can change assistant settings.

Plan Availability

Fresh Page Check is part of Answer Intelligence, which starts from AI Chatbot Starter. On AI Chatbot Free the row shows a Starter+ label in place of the switch, and the setting has no effect on answers. It is off by default on every plan, so a paid assistant uses it only after you turn it on. Pricing compares the AI Chatbot plans.

A question counts as one AI message whether Fresh Page Check is on or off.

Fresh Page Check Compared With Recrawl

Point Of ComparisonFresh Page CheckRecrawl
What it readsA short excerpt of the page behind an answer, at the time of the questionThe pages of a source
Updates the indexed copyNoYes
How long the effect lastsThat one answerUntil the next recrawl
How it startsBy itself, once the setting is onYou select Recrawl on the source card

Recrawl remains the way to bring your index up to date after your site changes; Add Website Data Sources covers it. Fresh Page Check can help between recrawls on pages whose details change often, most of all when the detail sits near the top of the page. It does not add new pages to the index.

Pair It With A Recrawl HabitAfter a larger update to your site, recrawl the affected sources first. Leave Fresh Page Check on for the small changes that happen in between.

If Answers Still Look Out Of Date

  • Check that the setting is saved. Open the Preview tab and look for Fresh Page Check · On in the preview notes. If it reads Off, turn it on in Settings and select Save changes.
  • Check the plan. On AI Chatbot Free the setting is locked and has no effect.
  • Check the source type. A fact that comes from a file, pasted text or a Manual Q&A pair is not re-read. Update that source itself.
  • Check where the fact sits on the page. Flidu reads the main page text and leaves out header, navigation, footer and sidebar elements, so put the fact in the body of the page. Fresh Page Check uses the start of that text, so a fact lower down needs a recrawl.
  • Recrawl the source. This updates the index itself, which every later answer then uses.
