What You Can Label On Each Tab
The two tab names, Contact and Ask AI, are fixed. You control the wording around them: the widget title, the Ask AI greeting and tagline, and the title of each channel.
A widget that offers both Contact and Ask AI shows two tabs, and their names are always Contact and Ask AI. There is no setting to rename them. What you do control is the wording visitors read around those names: the title above the tabs, the first lines inside Ask AI, and the label on every channel inside Contact. This page shows where each piece is set.
What Is Fixed And What You Can Change
| What Visitors Read | Your Wording | Where You Set It |
|---|---|---|
| The two tab names | Fixed: Contact and Ask AI | Not editable |
| The header above the tabs | Widget Title | Website Widgets, your widget, Appearance tab |
| The first lines in Ask AI | Greeting message and Tagline | AI Chatbots, your assistant, Settings tab |
| Tappable prompts in Ask AI | Suggested Questions | AI Chatbots, your assistant, Suggested Questions tab |
| Each row in Contact | Channel Title and Description | Website Widgets, your widget, Channels tab |
The widget’s built-in wording is also fixed and in English. That covers the “Ask a question…” box, the “Sources” label and the message “This feature is temporarily unavailable.”
Set The Widget Title
The Widget Title is the header at the top of the panel. In a Contact + Ask AI widget it sits above both tabs. When a visitor opens a channel that has its own screen, the header shows that channel’s heading with a back arrow, and returns to your title on the channel list.
- Open Website Widgets and select your website, then the widget.
- Open the Appearance tab.
- Type your wording in Widget Title, up to 60 characters. The Live Preview updates as you type.
- Wait for the Appearance Saved message. The title saves on its own and needs no publish step.
This is the same value as Public Widget Title in the New Website Widget flow. It starts as “Contact Us” on a Website Widget and as “Ask AI” on an Ask AI-only install. If you clear the field, it returns to “Contact Us”.
Word The Ask AI Tab
Open AI Chatbots, select your assistant and open the Settings tab. Under Assistant Identity, two fields are shown to visitors at the top of the Ask AI tab:
- Greeting message, up to 280 characters. It is the first line a visitor reads when Ask AI opens.
- Tagline, up to 160 characters. It appears under the greeting in smaller text.
Choose Save changes when you are done. If you leave both fields empty, Ask AI opens straight to the suggested questions and the question box.
Suggested Questions appear under the greeting as tappable prompts and disappear once the visitor sends a first message. Edit them on the assistant’s Suggested Questions tab, where each change saves immediately. AI Chatbot Free shows up to 3 live at once, Starter 10, Pro 20 and Business 30. See Suggested Questions And Source Cards.
Word The Contact Tab
Each channel is one row in the Contact tab: a title, with one line under it. You set both in the channel’s Presentation section.
- Open Website Widgets, select your website and widget, and open the Channels tab.
- Choose Edit on the channel you want to word.
- Under Presentation, type a Channel Title of up to 80 characters, for example “Get in Touch”. Leave it empty to keep the channel’s default name.
- Add a Description of up to 240 characters if you want a line of helper text under the title.
- Choose Save as Draft, then Publish changes. Visitors see a channel edit only once it is published.
Renaming a Channel Title is included from Website Widgets Starter. On Website Widgets Free the field is shown locked with a Starter + badge and the channel keeps its default name. Description is available on every plan, and a Custom Link’s Display label can always be edited. See Visitor-Facing Labels for the other wording in the widget.
Check Your Wording
- Open your website and refresh the page. The widget asks for its settings on each page load, so a page that was already open still shows the old wording.
- A title or greeting that has not changed: confirm you saw Appearance Saved, or chose Save changes on the assistant.
- A channel that still shows its old label: confirm you chose Publish changes after saving the draft. See My Dashboard Changes Are Not Showing On My Website.
